Drying greenhouse
Drying greenhouse
The Huber drying greenhouse in Bayreuth is a well-known example of sustainable drying technology.
This innovative greenhouse uses natural solar heat and ventilation to dry sludge and other organic residual materials, such as wastewater treatment sludge.
Instead of relying on chemical processes or energy-intensive techniques, the drying greenhouse harnesses natural sunlight to accelerate the drying process, significantly reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. This system represents an environmentally friendly technology for wastewater management and is considered an efficient way to process residual materials with minimal environmental impact.
With a surface area of over 7,000 m² and a sturdy glass and steel construction, the greenhouse offers an effective and sustainable solution for wastewater treatment. Its roof, made of tempered glass, and float glass walls ensure optimal light transmission for an efficient drying process. Additionally, a custom-designed Maschinenhaus, fully constructed with sandwich panels, was added to house all necessary equipment and provide seamless access to the greenhouse and loading area.
