Description

In Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, we built a Venlo greenhouse of over 1,000 m² that is completely insect-proof. This greenhouse serves as a demonstration and research center for the premultiplication of vine plants (scions and rootstocks) intended for nurseries.

The greenhouse provides a controlled environment where newly developed grape varieties – adapted to climate change and resistant to diseases – can grow safely. This project thus contributes to the future of viticulture in Bordeaux, Cognac, and the entire French wine sector.

The greenhouse is of the VENLO type.

  • Total surface area of 1,056 m², with structures of 2 spans of 4.80 m and 3 spans of 4.80 m.
  • Divided into 2 zones:
    • A cultivation zone, fully glazed and equipped with an entrance sas:
      • The façades are made of float glass.
      • The roof is fitted with clear tempered glass.
      • The alternating ventilation windows are equipped with insect-proof nets.
    • A technical zone:
      • The façades are made of sandwich panels.
      • The roof is fitted with white tempered glass.
      • Double continuous ridge ventilation.
  • Horizontal thermal and shading screens: double alternating ridge ventilation, with the ventilation windows equipped with insect-proof nets.

Nine months after the first stone was laid, the Venlo greenhouse is now operational.  The first vine plants can be installed in optimal conditions.

Together with our partners, we are proud of this insect-proof greenhouse,

ready for the future.
