Description

In the beautiful Rheinland-Pfalz, we are currently building an aquaponic greenhouse complex. This is a 3,700 m² Venlo greenhouse. This complex is not only a technical challenge but also an innovative step in sustainable cultivation methods.

  • Complete delivery and installation

In addition to building the greenhouse complex, we supply and install the entire technical building equipment. In close cooperation with the scientific director of WiFood, we have developed custom solutions that meet the client's strict requirements. From design to implementation, we offer everything from a single source.

  • Technical installations and systems

The greenhouse complex is equipped with advanced systems that ensure optimal growing conditions:

    • Shading: Both horizontal and vertical shading for efficient light penetration.

    • Heating and Irrigation: Advanced heating and irrigation systems that optimize plant growth.

    • Automatic climate systems: To maintain a constant climate, which is essential for the success of the cultivation.

    • Cultivation systems: rolling tables, cultivation gutters, and Deep Float systems that ensure efficient plant growth.

    • Electrical and Lighting Systems: everything is integrated to support production, even in low light conditions.

  • Sustainability and Energy Independence

A special feature of this greenhouse complex is the energy supply. The required energy is generated by its own wind turbine, making the complex largely energy-independent. This allows WiFood to produce year-round, 365 days a year, without relying on external energy sources.

  • What is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a sustainable cultivation method that combines fish farming and plant cultivation in a symbiotic ecosystem. The fish water is used to irrigate the plants, while the plants purify the water, allowing it to flow back to the fish. This reduces the use of water and fertilizers, making the system ecologically very beneficial.

In this project, plant cultivation is the first step. The integration of aquaculture is planned within the next one and a half to two years — an exciting next challenge on the path to a fully circular system.

We are proud of the collaboration with WiFood and our contribution to the development of an innovative and sustainable cultivation system. The aquaponic greenhouse complex is an important step toward the future of sustainable agriculture.
