This professional and innovative research greenhouse was built on the roof of the new logistics shed of the fruit and vegetable auction Reo in Roeselare, while it was already in use.
The roof greenhouse, with a surface of more than 9,000m², is designed within one integral L-shaped volume that rests on the concrete plinth of the warehouse.
The entire building is based on a venlo-type greenhouse construction, which consists of single tempered glazing encased in clear aluminium profiles.
Agrotopia's large greenhouse was divided into compartments with glass walls. Each compartment was given a different climate.
For the public, four-metre-wide paths were created around the glass compartments with a tempered climate. The glass walls of the compartments make it possible to watch from anywhere. You can see the very latest technologies implemented by Hedafor here.
Intensive use of space, sustainable use of energy and water, and integrated research into making greenhouse horticulture more sustainable is a top priority.
